Škrip

The oldest place on Brač is located in the interior of the island and is three thousand years old. Its name comes from the Latin word Scorpus meaning harsh bare stones.
Nowadays, around two hundred people live in this village, which succeeded to preserve the magic of all the periods through which it has passed.

Škrip is the home of the Museum of the island of Brač, in the backyard of which you can see the Illyrian ruins. The fortress in which the museum is today, was built on the ruins of the Illyrian mausoleum in which, the legend says, the Diocletian's daughters were buried.

On the central square rises the church of St. Jelena from the 18th century, and if you go a little further forward. you will have the chance to see the unforgettable  view of the Brač Channel.
